Bart Simpson Snacks

Bart Simpson has long been my favorite animated character. Bart, an anagram of “Brat”, is television’s classic trouble-maker with a heart of gold and a personal hero of mine.

I’ve never had trouble relating to Bart and his antics. Cracking jokes at the wrong time, wandering where I wasn’t supposed to go, playing pranks on teachers and strangers alike. The two of us knew all of the cracks in the linoleum floor outside the principal’s office. Like Bart, any mischief that I created in my youth didn’t come from a desire to see the world burn. Rather, I just wanted to see what would happen!

Rebellious, but empathetic. Mischievous, but not menacing. Combine that with the global marketing appeal of Mickey Mouse, and you get a character primed to represent any sugary snack.

For three decades, the Simpsons has been a merchandising behemoth. Despite representing a pseudo-adult TV program, grocery store shelves across international markets became increasingly familiar with Bart and his family. According to likely-not-reputable source “The Statistic Brain Institute”, The Simpsons total franchise revenue exceeded $13 billion in 2017.

Though his face has graced the packaging of everything from chips and popcorn to sodas, nothing captured the spirit of Bart quite like Kellogg’s “Bart Simpson’s Eat my Shorts” cereal. The absolute mega-giga-grail of Bart Simpson snacks.

While The Simpsons limps through its 33rd season, I chose to write about Bart because in a lot of ways, he embodies the spirit of BOUNTY. Bart speaks for those who cannot resist the urge to press the red button that says “do not press”. He’s always the first to try something new, and if it blows up in his face, he knows there’s a lesson to be learned.

With age, I’ve learned to control impulsive behavior more effectively. Probably for the better, I’ve lost a lot of the traits that Bart and I once had in common. But the curiosity that Bart stands for has stuck with me.

Whilst traveling, I am always on the lookout for special BOUNTY to help me channel Bart Simpson energy wherever I go.
