CaramBar
Legend has it that these french candies (like so many other candies we hold dear to our hearts) were created by accident when one of French confectioner Mr. Fauchille’s machines went haywire and began producing extra-long candies. Carambar has been engrained in French culture ever since. For many years, the wrappers contained written jokes which were so famously corny, that the phrase “blague Carambar” was coined to refer to a crappy joke! Pictured here is the fruity variety, which I found at a gas station near Avignon.
